Bespoke Professional Development (BePro) are a highly experienced training provider, based in the market town of Stokesley. We are predominantly focused on business and education related qualifications to both individuals and organisations through commercial courses and apprenticeships. We provide CMI, CIPD, CIPS and Edexcel accredited programmes in Management and Leadership, Human Resources, Learning and Development, Procurement and Supply, Coaching, Mentoring and Teaching Assistant and can provide our clients with a qualification from the UK’s leading bodies in the subject areas.
We offer our qualifications delivered in many different ways, including weekly taught classes, monthly workshops, distance learning and apprenticeships. We pride ourselves on our flexible approach ensuring we get the best fit for the individual or organisation.
Founded by mother and daughter duo Val Swales and Georgina Selmi in 2014, BePro have a wealth of experience in management, HR, customer services, sales and marketing. We offer accredited and non-accredited training throughout the country. As of 2017, we can now accept enhanced learning credits for all of our courses. We have grown from a team of two to a nationwide team.
Meet The Directors
Val Swales – Managing Director
Val is co-founder and director at BePro, is head of people and curriculum. Working in the past with some of the country’s leading colleges and universities, Val has over 18 years in an education and training capacity. With vast industrial experience in both HR and management, Val is educated to masters level in Management, holding a PGCE and many other management related qualifications. In her spare time, Val likes to spend as much time as she can in France, sampling the local cuisine and the different varieties of grapes!
Georgina Selmi – Operations Director
Georgina is co-founder and director at BePro, overseeing day to day operations and managing the apprenticeship provision at BePro. Georgina has a background in administration management and HR and branched into teaching with the completion of a PGCE in 2012. Qualified to masters level in Management with a first degree in Law, Georgina has an extensive knowledge of many business subjects and a passion for learner satisfaction. Georgina enjoys discovering new recipes, exploring a castle or Abbey on a weekend with her husband and three young boys and the loves trying new variety’s of prosecco!
Sophie Dalgarno – Operations Manager
Sophie joined us as an apprentice in 2017 and has already proved a real asset to the team. She deals with all things data and compliance and is a general point of contact for many apprenticeship queries, as well as managing the admin team. In her spare time Sophie enjoys going to music festivals and baking. She completed her CIPD Diploma in HR Practice in 2018 and is now working towards her Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership.
Tracey Carter – Head of Quality
Tracey is the Quality Manager at BePro, overseeing the quality provision across all areas of the business. Tracey has a background of working within a quality role within a number of training providers with extensive knowledge of apprenticeships and associated subject areas. She is a qualified assessor and lead verifier with over 10 years’ experience. Tracey enjoys going on long walks with her husband, step son and daughter and also meeting up with friends for a little retail therapy and a glass of prosecco!
Lorraine Bartlett – Head of Curriculum and Senior Development coach
Lorraine joined BePro after a lengthy career with one of the leading grocery businesses in the UK. She has considerable HR experience as a manager with key responsibilities for people management and talent development over many years.
Lorraine has always had a passion for helping people develop and grow. In 2018 she achieved the Level 7 CIPD Advanced Diploma in HR Management along with chartered member status and decided to move into training and development. Lorraine has a crazy Labrador, loves travelling and seeing the world and going on adventures with her family.
Tracey Collier – Head of Safeguarding and Senior Development Coach
Tracey has over 15 years’ experience as a Senior HR Manager and brings a wealth of experience to the role. Qualifications include CIPD level 5 in Applied Human Resources, and City & Guilds for apprenticeships including, assessing, verifying & lead verifier awards. Tracey is our lead safeguarding officer at BePro and has received a number of testimonials from apprentices highlighting her great work. Tracey regularly attends CIPD events to support students and represents BePro at career and learning fayres. Tracey is passionate about the learning journey and the quality of training she provides to her learners. In her spare time Tracey enjoys supporting various charities, love holidays and is a member of a Craft Gin Club.
Cathy Hutton – Head of Client Engagement
Cathy has spent many years working within some of the nations largest employers to help them to devise and deliver their L&D strategy, and in recent years spend their levy funds in a way that works towards organisational objectives. What Cathy doesnt know about the apprenticeship levy isn’t worth knowing!
Lucy Craster – Admin and HR Apprentice
Lucy works at head office in Stokesley, supporting the team to keep things running smoothly. Working with BePro is Lucy’s first full time job since leaving full time education and she is currently working towards her CIPD Diploma in HR Practice.
Sally Atkinson – Quality and Marketing Officer
Sally works in a dual role, assisting the Quality Manager Tracey with many tasks such as reporting and analysing data, as well as digital marketing. Sally has recently completed an apprenticeship in digital marketing and has brought with her lots of fresh new ideas. Sally has a passion for interior design, is a qualified eyebrow technician and loves cocktails and holidays!

Aman Uppal – Development Coach & CIPD Tutor
Aman has spent the last 2 years designing and developing the learning materials for our Learning and Development qualifications. She has over 16 years’ experience in HR and L&D and delivers workshops and learning support in both of these subjects. Qualified to degree level in Business and Legal studies, Aman has extensive business knowledge alongside with her experience as a Senior Manager in the world of retail. Other qualifications include CIPD Level 5 in HRM, and City and Guilds for Apprenticeships including assessing and verifying. Aman enjoys cooking, spending quality time with her family and is always looking at ways to help charities and make a difference to others less fortunate. Oh, and also is in the Gin club!
Simon Whiston – Development Coach & CIPD Tutor
Simon spent 22 years in the Royal Air Force with extensive experience in HR and training design and delivery. Simon is an ex learner of BePro and completed his CIPD level 5 with us some time before joining. With qualifications in management and recruitment also, Simon coaches both HR and L&D apprentices and delivers CIPD qualifications. In his spare time Simon supports local charities playing in a brass band, and is a member of the Royal British Legion.
Cat Nowland – Development coach
Cat spent the majority of her career as a consultant for a large London based company that was part of one of the UK’s leading venture builders. During her time as an L&D consultant, Cat worked with both private and public sector companies helping them to orchestrate change, embed new skills and enable new ways of working.
Cat has a number of qualifications including a degree in Human Resource Management and level 3 Recruitment diploma. Cat covers a range of modules including L&D, Recruitment, and Management. In her spare time Cat enjoys travelling, playing football and spending time with her 2 children and husband and maybe indulging in the odd glass of wine!
Ben Burchett – Development Coach & CIPD Tutor
Ben has been working in a variety of HR roles, both internationally and within the UK, for a number of years. Prior to joining BePro, Ben was the Head of HR for a large British school in Qatar and before this the Lead Tutor for CIPD courses at a Further Education College in London. As an HR generalist, Ben brings a wealth of operational and strategic HR experience that he is able to draw on when supporting learners. Ben is a Chartered Member of the CIPD and he holds the CIPD Level 7 Postgraduate Certificate in Personnel and Development, a BA (Hons) degree in Business Studies and a MSc in Human Resource Development and Consultancy. In his spare time, Ben enjoys a variety of sports and can often be found at a cricket ground watching a game. He also enjoys playing racket sports and enjoys tennis and squash. Ben is also a keen motorcyclist and when the weather is warm enough enjoys long rides out into the countryside.
Debbie Sleightholm- Development Coach & CIPD Tutor
Debbie spent over 30 years in the Retail Sector and 25 of these were spent as a Senior Hr Manager with responsibilities for People Management and growing Talent. Debbie’s qualifications include CIPD Level 5 HRM and City and Guilds for apprenticeships including assessing and verifying. Debbie is passionate about inspiring her learners to achieve their full potential in their chosen field of HR.
Outside of work Debbie loves to get creative in the kitchen, cooking and baking treats for her family. During the summer months Debbie spends her time on cricket duties with her son, and during the winter its time to wrap up for football duties!
Paula Matthews- Development Coach & CIPD Tutor
Paula joined BePro following a career spanning 20 years with a major retailer and has also worked in Apprenticeship delivery. She brings wealth of experience in HR Management, L&D and Leadership along with a passion for training and development of people to enable personal growth She is a qualified CIPD HR L5 Professional and is our Information, Advice and Guidance Specialist. In her spare time she supports a Spaniel charity and likes to relax with a bit of retail therapy.
Jackie Barlow – Development Coach & CIPD Tutor
Jackie spent a long time in the beauty industry before deciding to change careers and teach. She has been lecturing in FE for several years prior to joining BePro and runs workshops in HR, Management and L&D. Jackie is qualified to level 7 CIPD, has a Master’s degree in HRM&D and holds a PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education).
Outside of work she is a keen runner, although by her own admission, a tortoise rather than a hare! She has completed one marathon and a number of half-marathons in her time, although recently 10k is enough of a target. Other than that, we have another Gin lover on the team.
Agnes Kubicz – Development Coach and CIPD Tutor
Agnes is a CIPD level 7 qualified HR professional with 8 years of HR experience across different sectors. As a generalist, she worked for one of the largest US publishing companies as well as ran an HR function in a small family-run SME. Over the years she built upon and expanded her knowledge of operational as well as strategic HR, which she utilises to guide and support her learners. Agnes is also a qualified secondary school teacher and holds a MA in the German Language as well as a MA in Human Resource Management.
In her spare time, she is a keen DIY-er, gardener and loves traveling and discovering new places. Her upcoming project is a DIY campervan.
