Senior People Professional Apprenticeship

Updated: Apr 12, 2023

Are you considering the next step in your HR, OD or L&D career? Are you thinking about embarking on a level 7 qualification accredited by the CIPD, but are unsure which option is best for you?

As well as offering the full suite of CIPD qualifications, here at BePro we also offer a range of HR and L&D apprenticeship programmes. This month, the spotlight is on Senior People Professional!

Who is the Senior People Professional apprenticeship for?

Senior People roles are considered a key component in all types of business where there is a workforce to support and manage. They are the in-house experts in people, work and change and they drive organisational performance and effectiveness.

Senior People Professionals champion the people agenda to create working environments and cultures that help get the best out of people. The apprenticeship requires Senior People Professionals to apply their knowledge and expertise to lead on the design, implementation and evaluation of practices to support positive change.

To be eligible for the programme you must not already possess a level 7 qualification in this field, but you will have at least a level 5 qualification. The apprenticeship route is ideal for you if you want the opportunity to gain accreditation from the UK's only chartered body for the people profession (CIPD) and perhaps do not have the time or resources to be able to do this outside of work.

Is an apprenticeship the right option for me?

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Do I want to maximise my career potential and progress from operational aspects of HR into a strategic role?

  • Have I built strong relationships with a wide range of senior stakeholders?

  • Do I ensure that the organisation is compliant with up to date legislation and regulation?

  • Am I responsible for suggesting and ensuring positive change in my organisation?

  • Do I want to be able to analyse the current workforce and ensure alignment with future business strategy?

  • Do I have access to budgets to maximise the use of limited resources?

If the answer to most of these is yes, then the Senior People Professional apprenticeship is almost certainly going to support you in your role.

  • Enable better decision making as well as delivery of organisational objectives

  • Become an expert in your chosen field and the expertise within the organisation

  • Utilise levy funds to build a stronger workforce

CIPD Diploma or Fast track route?

Standard route: Apprentices at BePro can choose from two different routes. One includes an academic qualification (Level 7 CIPD Diploma in Strategic People Management or Strategic Learning and Development) and is studied over a 24 month period, giving more time for the apprentice to implement initiatives and gather the practical work for the portfolio of evidence. You will be required to study 7 different modules and write an assignment for each.

Fast-track route: Suitable for apprentices who have significant experience in their area of people practice already. Upgrade your CIPD membership to Chartered status without the commitment of an academic qualification, and within a 13-month time frame. You will be required to attend monthly workshops throughout your apprenticeship and gather a robust portfolio of high quality evidence.

At the end of both programmes regardless of route chosen, you will be assessed by the CIPD and upon successful completion will achieve Chartered status (MCIPD).

Join our webinar delivered by programme lead Hollie Powell who will be giving an informative overview of how the fast track works and the requirements to join on 5th April at 5.30pm. Check out our webinar here: SPP Fast Track Webinar
